Phil Bahler, Pave Tool Innovators
Philip J. Bahler is a hardscaper, landscape designer, tool inventor, speaker, and educator. He is the proud owner of Paver Tool Innovators, a hardscape tool store where his tool designs are featured.
In 1985 Phil started a hardscaping business with his brothers and called it Bahler Brothers. He found the need to invent tools to make his job easier, to increase quality and production efficiencies and to save his body from the grueling task of hardscaping. He and his brothers grew the business to 30 employees with 4 fulltime sales team designers and 12 installation crews. In 2006, Pave Tool was launched to offer hardscapers Phil’s complete tool line.
Phil is an active member of the ICPI, NCMA. His tools and knowledge have been featured in several magazines including Hardscape Magazine and Landscape Contractor Magazine.
To date, Phil has created over 45 Made in America quality tools and is launching another 5 products this year. His motto, “Take the “Hard” out of Hardscaping.”
Matt Basara, Oldcastle APG
Matt Basara is the Corporate Videographer for Oldcastle APG. Prior to joining the company, he spent over 10 years running his own business, where he became an expert in video production and digital media through his work with regional, national, and international brands. Matt brings a wealth of knowledge and fresh perspectives on creative and technical approaches to our business.
Jordan Barkas, Oldcastle APG
Jordan Barkas oversees the Elements line of outdoor essential accessories for Belgard as well as the online ordering platform. After five years on the Belgard product side, Jordan worked to introduce a line of accessory products that help complete the backyard space and align with the ease of ordering and install. She collaborates with the Belgard product, sales, and marketing teams to continuously develop innovative ways to help Belgard provide the best solutions to both dealers and contractors.
Nick Baughman, Earth Scapes Landscape & Outdoor Living
Nick Baughman is the owner and founder of Earth Scapes Landscape & Outdoor Living. Based out of Manasquan, New Jersey, Earth Scapes specializes in designing and installing unique outdoor living spaces as well as providing commercial and residential property maintenance services to clients along the Jersey Shore. Nick has been in the industry for over 15 years – starting Earth Scapes from the very bottom with a Jeep Cherokee and a push mower, to now a family of over 28 team members while operating a profitable and growing business.
Kyle Baughman, Earth Scapes Landscape & Outdoor Living
Kyle Baughman (Nick’s Brother) is a newcomer in the industry that has shown explosive growth over the last few years in growing with Earth Scapes. Kyle moved to NJ from FL in 2022 to join Earth Scapes and has acquired many industry certifications and has shown extreme dedication and passion for the Hardscape / Landscape Industry. Their goal is to create timeless outdoor living spaces for their clients to enjoy while continuing to build a reputable, trustworthy, and profitable business.
Randy Bianchi, Techniseal
Randy Bianchi joined the Techniseal team in September of 2020 servicing the New England market. Prior to that, he ran a hardscape cleaning & restoration and re-sanding business for 10 years in MA & CT. Bianchi has completed over 800 hardscape restoration jobs over the last decade since beginning in the industry. He is well versed in the technical aspects of the entire Techniseal line as well as the technical details of all things hardscape maintenance and restoration.
Jessica Burnett, Techniseal
Jessica joined the Techniseal team in January of 2022 after 20 years of service in the hardscaping and masonry industry at the supply yard level. As Regional Sales Manager, she covers eastern PA, NJ, DE and Long Island and works to connect with all levels of the distribution chain from the manufacturer to the contractor. With an extensive knowledge of the Techniseal line, and strong background in the pricing, design and installation of hardscaping projects, her focus is on helping contractors and dealers expand their businesses.
Mike Carey, Marmiro Stones
Mike Carey joined the Marmiro Stones family eight years ago focusing on growing new markets supplying marble and travertine to the hardscape community throughout the US. In addition, Mike has spent the prior 12 years in the concrete manufacturing industry servicing distributors, contractors and landscape architects along the east coast. As a MIA and AIA instructor his prime focus has always been to educate the community while selling, managing teams, installation and business development. Mike’s passion for natural stone has lead him to dedicate his time to educate the industry on best installation practices, new methods, fabricate natural stone on site and connecting professionals within our industry.
Don Clayton, Allan Block
Don Clayton has been dedicated to the hardscape industry for over 20 years. He has worked directly with contractors to train them on proper SRW installation techniques, estimating tools, and ways to improve their business. He’s also worked with Engineers, Architects and Building Officials to educate them on proper SRW design approaches to ensure that every project is a success.
Dana Cornetto, Marmiro Stones
Dana joined the Marmiro Stones team 10 years ago. With a passion for exterior design and creating beautiful spaces, Dana has been involved in working closely with Designers, Architects, Builders, Pool Contractors and Design Build companies. Joining forces with the key decision makers and engaging in a one on one design experience allows for streamline natural stone selections along with meeting budgets, lead times and choices for overall scope of work. Her degree in Interior Design Management holds a strong foundation in being able to connect with people in the trade and also homeowners, making important decisions for their homes to last for years to come. Dana is an active member in MIA and AIA, providing educational courses and CEUs for architects as well.
Mike Dalbey, Fleet Safety Consultants
Mike Dalbey is President of Fleet Safety Consultants Inc. and has over 20 Years of experience in Motor Carrier Regulations, Safe Driver training, and Accident Reconstruction. The company was started in 1999 to help educate and train small businesses that are governed by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations. Mike has consulted with companies such as Haines & Kibblehouse, Land-Tech Enterprises and ARS Group, to name a few. He has been a speaker and consultant with EP Henry since 2008 and has been a speaker for the PNLA in coordination with Penn State University. Mike is a retired police officer and Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officer in Pennsylvania, where he helped establish Motor Carrier Enforcement Units in Montgomery and Bucks counties.
John DeRosa, Marmiro Stones
John DeRosa joined Marmiro Stones in 2017. He adds value to the Marmiro team and the hardscape community with his 20 years of industry experience. His hardscape knowledge started with running a hardscape company with his partner before breaking into the world of concrete manufacturing. Always focusing on educating the contracting community through site visits and hands on trainings. John’s passion led him into the world of natural stone where his focus remains on challenging the limits of installation through his innovation while growing new markets with Marmiro Stones.
Kevin Earley, Anchor Diamond
Kevin Earley is a LEED Green Associate and licensed Professional Geologist with a M.S. in Engineering Geology from Drexel University. As Director of Commercial Hardscapes for Oldcastle APG, he provides hardscaping technical sales support to all APG operations. Kevin is one of the contributing Principal Authors of the ASCE’s Permeable Pavement Manual and is active with the Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute, chairing various committees over the past 10 years and currently chairs ICPI’s Foundation Program Committee. He is a member of three ASCE Standards Committees related to interlocking concrete pavement design and is a voting member of ASTM where he is involved in unit concrete paver standards. Mr. Earley has over 25 years’ experience related to concrete products used for commercial applications.
Sebastian Estrada, Marmiro Stones
A young and vibrant bilingual man who dove into the world of hardscapes with the main goal of presenting the best service and skill to both homeowners and builders equally. With a strong and united team backing him up, Sebastian is eager and ready to do what is necessary to assist, educate, and provide at all times to ensure a quality experience.
Benito Ferrer, Marmiro Stones
Benito Ferrer is a Marmiro Stones team member for the last 15 years, starting in the warehouse and currently as part of the sale team for the last 8 years thank you to the opportunities this great company has provided.
Arriving to the United States from the Dominican Republic in the late 90’s with previous career as a baker started exploring other areas working as a supervisor for Nicholas Galvanizing, later working for Smurfit-Stones Containers.
After growing Marmiro Stones in the Long Island, NY market, Benito has been expanding sales in Eastern PA. Focusing on increasing Marmiro’s presence in the PA market directly to hardscape contractors, home builders and landscape architects. Benito offers our clients the so difficult balance of service, quality and price through our company.
Jim Frederick, Tru-Scapes Landscape Lighting
Jim has been a proactive member of the Green Industry for over 20 years with extensive experience in design, sales and installation of hardscape, softscape and low voltage landscape lighting systems. As part of the Tru team for over 5 years he has been a key member and has been involved in all aspects of the business. Jim has a key focus on education, helping contractors grow their outdoor living business with the addition of low voltage landscape lighting to their portfolio of product offerings.
Bill Gardocki, Hardscape Educator
Bill Gardocki is the former owner of Interstate Landscape Co., Inc. in Londonderry NH. He is a graduate of the University of New Hampshire with degrees in Education and Horticulture. He is a past president of the New Hampshire Landscape Association, The Greater Derry Chamber of Commerce, and the Londonderry Friends of Music. Bill has over 45 years’ experience as an installer of hardscape. He is an ICPI and NCMA Certification Instructor and has been a featured speaker at many shows including Hardscape North America, MAHTS, and the Northeast Hardscape Expo.
Juan Gonzalez, Sakrete

Mike Hayden, Marmiro Stones
Mike is a seasoned professional with over 20 years of experience working with various building materials, hardscapes, and masonry cement along the Southeast Coast. In January 2019, he officially joined the Marmiro Stones® team, a company he was already familiar with due to his two-decade-long involvement in southern living and projects, both Interior and Exterior. His passion for Marmiro Stones® natural stone products led him to seamlessly integrate into the company’s culture.
Being from Southern Maryland and having called the Carolinas home since 1994, Mike currently serves as the Team Leader of the South Eastern sales team and oversees operations in both Crossville, TN, and Wilmington, NC. His mission is to introduce and promote Marmiro Stones® in his own backard and beyond, bringing the company’s products to a wider audience.
Rob Hipszer, Anchor Diamond
Rob has worked in the planning, design, sales, and construction phases of commercial and residential hardscaping projects for over 30 years. His experience is in both the public and private sectors with engineered and non-engineered applications. Mechanically stabilized earth structures, including segmental walls, and permeable paver systems have been an area of focus throughout his career. He is a certified Level I CHMA Wall Instructor. Prior to joining Oldcastle APG in 2017, he served for six years as the East Region Manager for Engineered Structures at Mirafi Geosynthetics.
Allie Jackson, Mirage Granito Ceramico USA
Allie Jackson began her career in the building materials industry at just 16 years old as a sales representative for a distribution company. Later she worked for companies producing other architectural materials, adding 7 more years of experience, providing services to architects, builders, contractors, colorists, designers, and distributors. Allie is fluent in Spanish and can read, write, and speak the language.
Nick Karl, Belgard
A 16-year veteran of Oldcastle, with a background spanning from Hardscapes to Lawn and Garden to Dry mix and more – Nick has formed strong relationships with all Oldcastle Customers from billion-dollar multinational companies to your neighborhood nursery – Nick is widely revered by his colleagues and customers for his in depth, detailed industry knowledge and expertise.
Karen Larson, Soake Pools
Karen Larson is a Co-Founder of Soake Pools. She comes from a design background and developed America’s first precast concrete plunge pool with her husband in 2013. She has been educating the landscape industry and consumers on the benefits of small pools, and specifically precast concrete plunge pools, for 10 years. She has worked with hundreds of landscape professionals over the 10 years and has been featured as an expert on This Old House, Ask This Old House, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Boston Magazine, Luxury Pools Magazine, and HGTV’s Love it or List it.
John Lea, Decksouth
John Lea is a highly regarded licensed general contractor based in Atlanta Georgia with a remarkable career spanning over two decades. Since 1998 he has been at the forefront of designing and building elegant outdoor living spaces that transform ordinary yards into stunning retreats.
With an unwavering commitment to excellence, John’s expertise extends to crafting comprehensive outdoor environments, encompassing everything from luxurious pools to inviting decks, cozy porches, versatile patios, and fully equipped outdoor kitchens. His visionary approach to outdoor living design and construction has left an enduring mark on more than 2,000 properties throughout the Southeast.
In addition to his outstanding contributions to the construction industry John is recognized for his dedication to professional development and industry advocacy. He proudly serves on the Ambassador Board of the North American Deck, and Railing Association, where his insights and leadership continue to help shape the industry.
John’s passion for creating outdoor living spaces that seamlessly blend functionality, form and aesthetics has earned him a well deserved reputation as a trusted expert in the industry. He resides in Metro Atlanta with his wife and four children.
Nick Lobascio, 88 Clean & Seal
With nearly 40 years in the hardscape industry Nick offers extensive knowledge to our community. Nick’s experience began with a degree at a masonry vocational trade school into two years at Schromber Concrete. His hands on experience started in the early 80’s with EP Henry and led to starting a hardscape business in 1990, Lobascio Concrete Pavers. Nick’s hardscape business evolved from concrete pavers, SRW construction to marble and travertine installations. With his wide scope of hardscape construction experience and passion he is dedicated to educating our community to make our industry stronger.
Nick’s vision of the industry needs has guided him to start a cleaning and sealing business. He has fine-tuned the do’s and don’ts within this realm and gives great support to our community.
Paul Lorenzani, Mirage Granito Ceramico USA
Paolo Lorenzani has more than 10 years in the field of the porcelain tile industry. He began his career as a sales representative in Paris, France, after a few successful years he was promoted to Sales Manager for all of France, during this period he managed to establish a successful market based on the education of distributors, contractors, and architects. Earlier this year Paolo was named Director of Mirage USA as well as the rest of the American continent.
Andrew Ludewig, Oldcastle APG
Andrew Ludewig is the Creative Project Manager for Oldcastle APG and a photographer for a small business he created over 15 years ago. He is a graduate of the Art Institute of Philadelphia, with a degree in Graphic Design and has almost 20 years of marketing experience. His skillset includes social media, SEO, graphic design, photo manipulation, photography, and IT.
Mark Masseo, Masseo Landscape
Mark Masseo, CNLP is the owner of Masseo Landscape, Inc. Located in New Paltz NY. Established in 1999, Masseo Landscape is an outdoor living landscape and building firm, specializing in all phases of construction from concept to execution. A degreed horticulturalist from Morrisville State College, Mark has honed his passion of building outdoor living areas, while solving drainage problems and creating lasting places of beauty. He is a firm believer in letting his staff express their creativity in the finite details while using mixed media in most applications of building. Additionally Mark owns Kalleco Nursery Corp, a full service garden center and stone yard which he built to help the up and coming landscape contractors with their material needs, as well as homeowners and gardeners. Not only is he a Belgard Authorized dealer at the Nursery and an Authorized contractor at Masseo Landscape, but Mark also serves on the Belgard Advisory Council this year and is excited to be a part of this year’s MAHTS.
TJ McGrath, Tru-Scapes Landscape Lighting
TJ McGrath, Tru-Scapes Landscape Lighting: TJ McGrath has 15 years of experience in the outdoor living field. He joined the Tru-Scapes team December 2nd 2018. Prior to joining Tru-Scapes he was a hardscape and lighting project manager for 10 years installing projects on both the residential and commercial scale. TJ’s current role is to bring education and technical support with Tru-Scapes outdoor lighting to the many outdoor professionals across the country.
Jeff Miller, EP Henry
Jeff Miller is the masonry division sales representative for EP Henry, a division of Oldcastle APG, servicing PA, DE, MD and VA distributors and masonry contractors. Prior to joining the EP Henry Sales Team in 2015, Miller owned and operated a commercial masonry contracting business in southeast PA, covering the tri-state area. With nearly four decades of masonry experience in a variety of disciplines, Miller has since provided masonry education through accredited courses and seminars to architects, contractors and distributors; an extension of his career at EP Henry. Miller touts himself as a “Tradesman” above all other titles, which prior to being a sales rep was primarily responsible for running day-to-day field operations.
“My emphasis on masonry education is to provide practical and simple installation instruction while making your customer happy – and making money doing it”.
Daniel Moreland, Belgard
Daniel Moreland, LEED GA, CDT, CCPR is a member of the ICPI-NCMA (now Concrete Masonry and Hardscapes Association, CMHA) Technical and Certification Sub-Committees as well as serving as Chairman for the CMHA Commercial Technical Promotion Advisory Committee. As an ICPI instructor, he has taught certified paving contractor courses in six states including at Hardscape North America. He was selected as a judge for the 2022 Northeastern Hardscape Expo Paver Installer Competition in Hartford, CT. Dan has also hosted hundreds of AIA hardscapes CE courses across the Northeast US over the past 15 years. He currently is a Belgard Architectural Representative for Oldcastle APG, a company he has worked at for over 20 years.
Brianne Papa, Barette Outdoor Living
Brianne Papa is a Territory Sales Manager for Barrette Outdoor Living who manufactures fencing, railing, and decking. Since its inception in 1975, Barrette Outdoor Living has grown into a powerhouse within the US and in several regions of Canada. Brianne has been in the industry for 12 years with Barrette Outdoor Living, now a part of the Oldcastle APG family. She is known for her attention to detail and helping customers bring their outdoor living space together through Barrette’s diverse and flexible range of outdoor living solutions. Her goal is to help the dealers and contractors successfully sell and install our products to make the homeowners vision come to life.
Bob Phillips, Phillips Contracting
Bob Phillips is president of Phillips Contracting, Inc. After attending Pennsylvania College of Technology for building construction, Bob worked in residential building for a few years before starting his hardscaping company.
His certifications are the certified concrete paver installer (ICPI), permeable interlocking concrete pavement specialist (PICP) and segmental retaining wall installation (NCMA). He continues his education through workshops and seminars to keep his ICPI certifications up to date.
In 2017 Bob started Hardscape Contractors of America LLC, a private group of hardscapers helping other hardscapers by sharing their work, questions, knowledge, and offering suggestions to support members. Since that time, it has grown to over 18,000 members and going strong.
Joe Raboine, VP of Design, Oldcastle APG
Joe Raboine oversees the Belgard Residential Program. He collaborates with both sales and marketing to ensure that contractors and dealers are receiving best-in-class service, products, and experiences. He hosts webinars and podcasts, and presents at industry events on design trends, product innovations, and industry best practices. Joe also oversees the Belgard Design Studio team and received an Innovation Award for developing the concept.
Joe started his career as a contractor over 25 years ago. He is credited with inventing the prefabricated components of the Elements Collection through his company, Harmony Outdoor Living, Inc., which was acquired by Oldcastle® in 2013.
Jesus Salinas, AJS Solutions
Jesús Salinas nació en la Ciudad de México y emigró a los Estados Unidos en 1995 a la edad de 12 años. Fue a la universidad aquí, donde estudió arquitectura y arquitectura de jardinería. Jesús comenzó a trabajar en la industria de hardscaping en 1999. Jesus Salinas was born in Mexico City and immigrated to the United States in 1995 at the age of 12. He went to college here, studying architecture and landscape architecture. Jesus started working in the hardscape industry in 1999. He worked for two landscaping companies for 13 years, worked seven as manager of a Nursery, and eight as a sales rep for a concrete paver manufacturer. In 2020 he started his company called AJS Solutions LLC, which specializes in 3D designs, hardscaping and landscaping.
Craig Sheller, Sheller Outdoor Living
Owner of Sheller Outdoor Living in Kansas City, MO.
For over 20 years Craig has served the Construction and Hardscape industry as an Installer, Distributor, Manufacturer Rep and Educator.
Craig has a passion for improving the industry through coaching others on best practices, operating efficiencies and attention to detail. As the industry has changed over the years he continues to research new installation methods, new tools and equipment, as well as new products.
In the off season Craig enjoys traveling to other markets to teach ICPI courses and Present Hands On Training for Hardscape Installation.
Lainie Sleppin, MoistureShield
Lainie Sleppin is the National Director of Contractor Development for MoistureShield. She is a National Board Member of the North American Deck and Rail Industry Association and has been in the deck manufacturing industry for over two decades. The majority of her experience has been working in the channel with major distributor partners and lumber dealers. Lainie’s expertise in decking has presented her with the opportunity to be a resource for those in the business, creating value through sales and marketing strategies. In addition, she has been a featured speaker at industry events, was named to 2020 HBS Top Women in Hardware and Building Supply, as well as being certified by NADRA’s Deck Evaluation Safety Course.
Dirk Tharpe, Sakrete
With over 30 years of experience, Dirk Tharpe has spent his professional life in the ready-mixed concrete, masonry, dry-mix, and concrete repair goods industries. He currently works with Oldcastle APG representing the Sakrete, Pro-Mix, Amerimix, US Spec, Echelon Masonry, and Belgard brands among others. Dirk shares his love for all things containing cement by serving as the social media spokesperson for Sakrete products, writing and teaching Concrete and Concrete Repair educational modules, and conducting hands-on demonstrations across our nation.
Dirk invites you to visit YouTube and watch season 1 of Sakrete Concrete Combat as well as to view Sakrete’s library of Pro-Tips. He promises you will be entertained while learning sound concrete and concrete repair practices.
Rich Thiebaud, LMN and Greenius
Rich started out as a basic laborer on site in the summer of ’95 and ended up involved in nearly every aspect of the industry including retail, landscape maintenance, landscape construction, swimming pools, landscape lighting, snow and ice control, landscape design, and his personal favorite sales.
Turning to a landscape management software and using it properly was a big factor in OGS’s growth. He hopes to use his experience to help find ways to communicate with like-minded contractors, who are in various stages of their business journey.
Ryan Toscano, Mirage Granito Ceramico USA
Ryan Toscano is the Northeast Regional Hardscape Sales Representative covering Virginia to Canada for Mirage Granito Ceramico, an Italian company that specializes in manufacturing porcelain pavers. Since joining Mirage in December of 2019, his focus is on growing the porcelain pavers market and working with contractors, dealers, and architects. Prior to that, he worked for Belgard for eight years as a sales representative and is well versed in the hardscape industry.
Michael Tous, Grassmasters
Michael es vicepresidente y copropietario de Grass Masters, Inc., una empresa de mantenimiento de césped y construcción de diseño de paisajismo de servicio completo ubicada en Lumberton, NJ. Michael is Vice President and co-owner of Grass Masters, Inc., a full-service hardscaping design build and lawn maintenance-company located in Lumberton, New Jersey. He has over 30 years of experience in the hardscape industry. Michael is an ICPI certified instructor and is fluent in both English and Spanish. Mike has been a longtime supporter of MAHTS, dedicating his time and expertise, instructing courses for his industry peers. Mike holds both ICPI and NCMA certifications and over the years has led a variety of Hands-on training skills in both the English and Spanish languages.
Marcus vandeVliet, MV Enterprises
Marcus has been a full-time consultant and speaker for the past 21 years. In that time he has traveled coast-to-coast consulting for Green Industry companies, focused on estimating, job costing, project management, administrative and production systems, and employee training. Marcus also facilitates strategic planning retreats.
Marcus was President of a $7M high-end residential landscape construction company and Project Manager for a $23M landscape construction company.
Marcus has been a speaker for many national and state trade associations. He is past president of the New Jersey Nursery and Landscape Association and is a member of the ANLA Horticultural Standards Committee.
James Yates, ASA Outdoor Living
ASA Outdoor Living is a premier design/build company proudly serving the Central/South Jersey and Bucks County, PA regions. Our journey began over a decade ago when ASA was founded, initially focusing on the art of decorative concrete. Weston has been in the green industry all his life. He spent 15 years out in the field at Tussey Landscaping in central PA, a $6m business building high end outdoor living spaces. He led the Tussey team to the Aquascape Artist of the Year award in 2017 for building world class artistic water features. As Tussey grew, figuring out how to “Know Your Numbers” was imperative to growing sustainably and profitably. The journey of searching for a better way to build and track your numbers led to him becoming a co-founder of a project management software and app – SynkedUP, to help others know and track their numbers, estimate and job cost jobs, and manage their jobs efficiently.
